The perception of accomplishing goals in both personal and professional lives is known as one’s mindset. The mindset you own is a key factor in creating your own world view. How an individual views the world and acts towards life is reflected mainly by their mindset. How we perceive success and failure is also influenced by a person’s mindset. A person with a fixed mindset would see failure as the end of the world, while a person with a positive mindset may see failure as not only a learning experience but also an opportunity for self-actualization.

Here’s why positive people with a growth mindset are the most successful people:

  1. They aren’t afraid of challenges

A person with a growth mindset isn’t afraid of challenges. They embrace challenges. According to the golden principle, people should challenge themselves to improve. Heard about Mia Hamm? One of the renowned female soccer players constantly challenged herself to improve her performance. Whether it was growing up playing against the opposite gender who were substantial and more significant in size or playing on the international stage. She always embraced challenges that were crucial for her success.

  1. They see failure as an opportunity to grow

As discussed earlier, failure can be different for different people. When people with a growth mindset fail, they don’t take it personally. For them, failure is a way to learn new things and improve. When people fail, they learn what works and what doesn’t work. Making mistakes and errors make them resilient and strong.

  1. They use feedback constructively

We all receive feedback constantly throughout our lives. From the criticism of coworkers and the guidance of mentors and leaders and from the number of likes and comments we receive on Snapchat posts to interviewers’ comments during a job interview, feedback is everywhere.

If you have a positive person with a growth mindset, you’ll see feedback as a way to improve yourself personally and professionally. Although facing negative feedback can be challenging at times, the most successful people always look for ways to get something positive out of things and thus embrace all kinds of inputs. Commonly taking a negative internal dialogue such as “stress” and exchanging it with an empowering term like, “excitement”.

  1. They keep their heart and mind open

Being open-minded can have numerous benefits for your physical and mental health. In a fast-paced world where change is the only constant, the ability to think flexibly and try out new things can be a great strength in and of itself.

With a bit of imagination and creativity, it is positive for an open-minded person to solve any complex issue. Being open-minded is also amazingly important for building and maintaining relationships with other people. It means that you have the capability to ignore a person’s weaknesses and constantly focus on the bright side. They are supportive and give others the benefit of the doubt and find the good in every situation.

Neurologically thinking positively keeps us mentally calm in our prefrontal cortex where we are in control of impulse inhibition, prospective memory, and we are cognitivley flexible. As soon as we feel negatively stressed or triggered, we mentally move to our amygdala which places us into fight or flight reactivity upon realizing feelings of fear or threatening stimuli or feeling over stimulated by them. Martial arts teaches us how to be in a stressful situation while mentally remaining calm minded in our prefrontal cortex. To respond with intelligent design to the stimuli rather than being reactive to it.

  1. They are firm believers

They believe they can overcome any challenge and achieve anything they put their heart and mind to. They feel empowered because they understand that there’s no limit to their potential. They realize that hard work, dedication, and persistence are necessary. They know that they can grow and adapt to turn their dream into reality.
